Gas Leak Repair
Gas leaks can occur due to faulty gas appliances or pipework. Natural gas and Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) are not poisonous but can lead to fires and explosions.
To make it easier to detect a gas leak, a harmless chemical is added to gas which makes it easy to smell.
To help avoid a gas leak in your home get your gas pipework and appliance annually checked and tested by a Gas Safe Registered engineer, call us on 0151 431 0333.
Gas leaks can be a result of poorly fitted, badly maintained, and faulty appliances. If your appliances are a bit older they can perform less efficiently and even start to become dangerous you should have these regularly serviced. You should always ensure your appliances are installed and maintained by a Registered Gas Safe engineer.
We recommend if you think you are smelling gas, have a gas leak or worried about one of your appliances you should call the gas emergency service 0800 111 999.
If your gas meter is easily and safely accessible to turn off the gas, located the ECV and turn it to the off position. The ECV is normally located alongside the gas meter, meter locations normally under stairs, in the kitchen under the sink, in the garage, and in more modern houses the gas meter is located outside the building.
We strongly recommend you locate your Emergency Control Valve to ensure if this emergency ever occurs you are able to quickly make the situation as safe as possible.
