A Government ECO grant is a non-repayable free or partial subsidised boiler replacement. This is part of the Government (ECO) Scheme set up to help with home improvements for qualifying households. It provides households with access to improving home efficiency in order to reduce the cost of energy bills, as well as carbon footprints when heating their homes.
The grant is decided by how efficient your home is and is determined by an energy assessment. In some cases, a small fee may be required.
To qualify for an ECO grant, you must be in receipt of pension credit, working tax credits or child tax credits. Other benefits which can qualify include Income Related Employment & Support Allowance, Income Based Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support and Universal Credit, though all are conditional upon the household meeting a further criteria component.
You must be the homeowner of the property to be eligible for this grant and your boiler must be over six years old to qualify for a new replacement, as if it is less than this, the scheme will presume it is more efficient to repair the current model.
